Whimsical Lavender Romance: Christine and Ben at the Brazilian Room

There is something truly magical about Berkeley in September. The air starts to turn just a little bit crisp, the golden hour light feels a bit softer, and Tilden Park provides the most breathtaking, lush backdrop for an “I do.”

For Christine and Ben’s late-summer wedding at the iconic Brazilian Room, we wanted to lean into a palette that felt both fresh and romantic. When Christine first shared her vision with me, I knew we had to play with shades of lavender, lilac, and creamy whites to complement the natural stone and dark wood of the venue.

The Design Details

The floral vibe for the day was all about texture and movement. We moved away from anything too structured, opting instead for a “garden-gathered” look that felt like it had been plucked straight from a whimsical meadow.

For Christine’s bridal bouquet, we featured:

  • Clematis: These delicate, bell-shaped purple blooms provided that perfect “dancing” movement we love so much.
  • Ruffled Lisianthus: In shades of deep violet and soft lilac, these added layers of romantic texture.
  • Creamy Garden Roses: To ground the palette and add a classic, timeless elegance.
  • Textural Fillers: We tucked in bits of Queen Anne’s Lace and airy greenery to give the arrangements a light, breathable feel.

A Lavender Dream

One of my favorite moments of the day was seeing the bridal party together. Christine’s bridesmaids wore stunning floor-length gowns in a soft lilac shade that perfectly mirrored the tones in their bouquets. Seeing that sea of purple against the deep greens of the Berkeley hills was a total dream!

The Brazilian Room is such a special place because it manages to feel both grand and intimate at the same time. Whether it was the couple strolling through the open fields of the park or the way the sunlight hit the delicate petals during the ceremony, every moment of Christine and Ben’s day felt effortless and full of joy.
