Formal name: Philodendron hederaceum brasil

Nicknames: Philodendron heartleaf, heartleaf ivy, brasil.

Family: Araceae, an epiphytic and epilithic species of Philodendron.

Native habitat: A small region in Southeastern coastal Brazil, not far from Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

Difficulty level: Easy!

Light requirements: Prefers bright indirect light. However, this plant can also tolerate shade.

Watering: Frequent watering; we advise letting the soil dry out slightly before re-watering.

Soil: Rich soil with some drainage. We recommend a combination of indoor potting soil and perlite.

Temperature: Best if kept between 60 and 80 F. (16-27 C.) If the temperature drops below 55F, the plant will not grow.

The Philodendron Brasil is an excellent beginner plant. They are easy to care for and require little to no maintenance. Their bright, variegated leaves will continue to amaze you and impress fellow houseplant admirers. Unfortunately these plants are poisonous to animals and humans if ingested. We recommend placing them on a shelf away from house pets and/or small children. The Philodendron Brasil plants grow quickly and their cuttings can be propagated to grow new plants.
